I'm pretty sure you can just "system restore" your pc back to default, or just delete anything you downloaded in the last couple days/weeks even month.

P.S worst case if you can't do the above delete, system 32.

Best way is to go on your task manager and end any weird looking processes like the following: gkfdglkdlgflkglkdgfk.exe and stuff that doesn't seem real or anything related to anything you've recently downloaded that you probably shouldnt have. After that virus scan your computer or restore it to a state before you got ratted.

Have ended up paying 160$ to get computer cleaned and it removed that way!

at least then I know it's been done properly! Also for some reason, I tried to do restore to a certain date and that option for backups wasn't on so I couldn't restore to last week, and factory restore doesn't always remove a key logger/ rat

the guy on the phone said he's found and removed a few Trojans but surely a key logger wouldn't be a Trojan it would be worse?

Bummer dude, how far off 99 fletch were you??

a Trojan is a file that tells your computer it is a standard executable file while it runs it's true purpose (generally farming information for advertising/marketing programs)

a "RAT" attack is a Trojan file where the information is compiled and sent as well as being remotely accessible ie it generally opens ports in your firewall and runs as an executable similar to team viewer (people can log onto your computer in real time to access the program)

These can be a lot more harmful than just losing GP so even though it sucks, at least it wasn't your bank account or your sex tape.

Typically a system restore will remove any potentially malicious programs you have downloaded as it re installs a complete new operating system, if you are concerned it is a good idea to get a free trial of a payed anti-virus software run the scans throughout the duration of your trial and just don't extend the subscription.

The trick to avoiding these kind of things from happening is be extremely restrictive in your downloading.

This includes your internet browser extensions.

I typically only stream media content and if I do torrent it is onto an external hard drive and scanned.

Phishing is the next big thing to watch out for once again not just with regards to old school.

Fuck dude, I coulda helped you out here, have experience with these exact situations, If you ask me that 160$ is a scam, a price for the time rather than the "skill" needed... jesus fucking christ, I feel for you man...

Anyway, not being rude! :D but if you managed to be ratted, chances are you'd have a few Trojans on your setup, Trojans depending on how they are set up are even more slimy than your average rat and can be slipped in if you're not careful.

Contact me if you wish to talk or whatever when it comes to PC security :D

But I recommend downloading these items

Once you've cleared your computer, done a full scan with Avast, Malwarebytes and cleaned your browser/s with CCleaner.

Then I'd recommend going on to pirating Avast Premier, running all security measures for that and proceed to go about as usual.

Seeing as how you had a rat and trojans, I assume you're rather active when it comes to downloading stuff.

The second you do download something, if its an executable even, Scan before running it / opening it. Then scan once again.

If it is pirated material without much legitimasy backing it up then run it in safezone (Avast utility).

Hope this helped! :D Good luck with anything further, and like I said you can contact me if you wish to talk about anything further! :D
