Jax
Very hard to tell based on a post. Most "experts" will do what most mechanics do, trial and error parts and attempt to charge you labour each step of the way e.g. power cord, new CPU, new this, new that. Unsure if there are diagnostic tools that can be run when PC is off, you can probably still recover the HDD/SDD (hard drive). Is the PC old? AC Skiller
Take it to a computer/tech store to get it checked out, sooner rather than later. But the problem/s is/are probably one of these. You're power supply suffered a minor short circuit. (broken power supply) Motherboard could be broken in multiple ways, weather it be sockets, it itself, anything that would prohibit function If you're lucky it could just be your socket or extension lead if using that, try a new socket in a different part of the building you're in Worst case scenario you're power supply just fried your whole computer (possibly just the motherboard) damaging all other components in the computer, If you ever found / find any burning smell, fumes from possible melting plastic ect. This is sadly probably the case, and the most likely one. Good luck on finding a fix! @ Edited July 26, 2016 by AC Skiller
