So I was leaving a... deal... at the mall and when I was leaving there was a stop sign and I had to take a left to get home. There's a big bush in the way so I had to pull up farther than usual in order to see if there was any oncoming traffic. When I pulled out there was a car and it was very close.. and it was a police car.

The officer turned on his lights and I was very respectful, figured he would realize the situation and let me off with a warning. I was wrong. I profited $140 at the deal and the ticket came out to be $136, but my insurance will go up too so I will be losing money regardless. I am going to challenge the ticket though and think I may have a chance to get the ticket dismissed since I believe in order to see you have to pull up to the point where if there is anyone, it's too late.

What do you guys think? Hopefully I have a chance.

well on the one hand, you are supposed to come to a halt on the line, then creep forward after you came to a complete stop until what ever u need to see is visible rather than just driving to the point where you can see and stopping there.

On the other hand generally speaking for minor motoring offences if you just show up in business attire and make an effort, they will cancel the ticket.

Take that shit to court even if you know you don't have a chance in winning.  The outcome will still be the same as if you paid the ticket primarily. These things MAY happen if you take it to court.

A) You get lucky and the cop had to work today so he couldn't show up to the court date meaning ticket dismissed.

B).  Let's say you didn't have the money to dish out in 30 days, bills, rent, anything.  Taking the ticket to court automatically means you have an extension on when you have to pay the ticket whether its 30 days or 45 days, depending on how busy your county court is.  Once the court day comes you can either pay the initial ticket cost and go home or stay for the hearing.  If you stay for the hearing and know for a fact there is no reason you are going to win whatsoever then this is going to happen.  The judge will take a look at your driving record and depending on how clean or how shitty your driving record is assign you to complete a drivers course and an additional fee for reckless behavior(only happens in severe speeding tickets, DUI's. or fatal accidents) before you can drive again or the judge will say that you will have up to 3 months after today to pay the initial ticket cost.

No matter the cost or the severity of the ticket, I always take my tickets to court.  I can personally tell you I have gotten away from around 12 tickets that way.  Honestly the choice is yours man.

nah fuck no take it to court. you will probably get off and they'll chop the bush. if not, ask for defensive driving and you wont have to pay the citation if they give it to you.
